DreamCarXchange is pleased to offer up for bid at NO RESERVE this 2003 Porsche Boxster S. This was purchased by Shawn Cudnik, Co-Founder of DreamCarXchange for the Car Flip Challenge, where all the profits from the sale of this Boxster will go to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (https://www.missingkids.org). This 986.2 S is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over Metropol Blue standard leather and comes with a Metropol Blue soft-top with heated rear glass window. According to the clean CARFAX, it was originally sold by Rietzl Porsche Audi in Norwell, MA and stayed in MA until Shawn recently acquired it and brought it to New Jersey where it now shows 105k miles. The IMS bearing was updated with a LN Engineering bearing along with the clutch, RMS and some other items were just addressed by Powertech in Rockaway, NJ in preparation for this auction. It has a clean CARFAX and is being sold with a clean New Jersey title.
This example is finished with Metropol Blue interior and is a relatively high optioned example with Heated Seats, 18″ Light Alloy Carrera wheels, Power Seat Package, Bose digital stereo with windstop, 6 disc changer, Xenon headlamps, colored wheel crests and aluminum/leather shifter and brake handle. The stock radio was replaced with an aftermarket unit with Bluetooth, though it is noted that the Bose rear subwoofer is not functioning. The original MSRP on this Boxster S was $63,210.
The 986.2 S equipped with the 3.2 liter flat 6 engine, rated by Porsche at 258 hp @ 6250 rpm and 229 lb-ft of torque @ 4500 rpm, with a redline of 7200 rpms. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The wheels on this example are the optional 19″ Light Alloy Carrera wheels and currently wear Michelin Pilot Sport 3+ A/S tires sized 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 with mfr date codes from 2016. The rear tires are noted as getting near the wear bars.
The previous owner replaced the original convertible top with a German A5 top, and as with all Boxsters starting in 2003 features heated rear glass, replacing the vinyl rear window that comes with the pre-2003 Boxsters.
Powertech in Rockaway, NJ inspected the car in September 2020 after the Shawn purchased it and completed the following items:
- Updated LN Engineering IMS bearing
- Replaced clutch and resurfaced the flywheel
- Replaced the Rear Main Seal (RMS)
- Oil & Filter change
- 4-wheel alignment
- Cleaned the F&R cowl/cab top drains
- Paint correction
- Cleaned and applied clear coat on brake calipers
- Refinished rear bumper cover
Shawn states that the car drives and presents itself very well with a few blemishes as pointed out in some pictures in addition to some normal wear such as rock chips and a couple of small dings. The driver seat had the side bolster and lower center sections replaced and the color is slightly lighter than the rest of the seat. He also notes that the floor mat on the passenger side and the rollover hoop screens are missing and that the window on the passenger side is sometimes slow to lower/raise when the door is opened/closed and the actuator for the gas door is loud when locking/unlocking the car. The air conditioning blows cold and is noted that everything works as it should.
In addition to the services just performed, the clean CARFAX indicates that this Boxster S has been received maintenance throughout its life. You can download the CARFAX from the Key Specifications table above and make sure you check out the additional pictures found in the “Pictures” tab above. Don’t forget that the profit from the vehicle is being donated to charity and that the highest bidder wins (No Reserve), so bid often on this well sorted Boxster S!
Unbelievable bang for your buck! The all-important IMS/RMS and clutch, and other items such as an alignment, were just done. Great color of Midnight Blue Metallic (I have an '08 Cayman S in the same color), along with the refreshed calipers and 18" Carrera wheels really makes this one pop. I drove it back from the Boston, MA area to NJ and have driven it some since, and it drives as drives it should, which means its one of the best drivers cars out there, period.
