DreamCarXchange is thrilled to offer at NO RESERVE this 2002 BMW M3 Coupe. This was purchased by Ed Bolian, Founder and CEO of VINwiki for the Car Flip Challenge, where all the profits from the sale of this M3 will go to the Brock Yates Memorial Fund (https://www.facebook.com/brockyatesmemorialfund/). This has been a “bucket list” car for Ed and now is available to you at No Reserve. This E46 M3 is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission (via a conversion from the factory installed SMG) and is finished in Imola Red over Imola Red leather. According to the CARFAX, it has spent its life in the Southeast. It currently reads 127k miles but it is estimated to have a total of 200k miles. In addition to the manual transmission swap, it is modified with a supercharger, exhaust and CSL wheels. It is being sold with a clean Georgia title.
Here is a video of Ed introducing the Car Flip Challenge and his selection of a E46 M3 as on his VINwiki YouTube channel:
This E46 has been modified with an Active Autowerke Supercharger, Exhaust, Diffusers, and CSL/Comp Pack Wheels wearing brand new Continental DWS tires.
The stock 3.2 liter 6 cylinder engine produced 333 hp @ 7900 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque @ 4900 rpm as rated by the factory at the crank. With the addition of the Active Autowerke supercharger, it is estimated at well over 400 hp to the wheels.
The interior is finished in Imola Red Nappa leather and is equipped with the optional moonroof. Note the gearshift knob has been updated with the stock knob since this picture was taken.
The Carfax indicates that the mileage went from 195k to 124k in 2016/17 (it currently shows 127k miles), therefore Ed believes the instrument panel was swapped out and estimates that the car has a total of approximately 200k miles.
This M3 was fitted by the factory with the SMG automatic transmission, though one of the previous owners converted it to a proper 3-pedal car. This is a relatively common conversion due to the high level of commonality of parts between the SMG and manual transmissions.
The rod bearings, O2 sensor and oil pan and valve cover gasket were all just completed in September 2020 and Ed has installed new tires being installed during his ownership. The previous owner claimed that subframe was reinforced. The car recently passed Georgia OBD emissions.
The car has some minor oil leaks but has maintained a proper oil level throughout the miles Ed has owned it. The tie rod ends and control arm bushings are showing some wear. It will need paint on the decklid, roof, hood, fenders, and bumper and the wheels will need some refinishing due to previous curb rash. Ed notes that overall the car drives and shifts great and that it is the perfect project platform to make your perfect E46.
As an added bonus, Ed has graciously decided to also provide to the winning bidder an autographed 55 MPH Speed Limit sign!
In addition to the records found in the gallery, the CARFAX shows a total of 40 service history records. You can download the CARFAX from the Key Specifications table above and make sure you check out the 60+ additional pictures found in the “Pictures” tab above. Don’t forget that the profit from the vehicle is being donated to charity and that the highest bidder wins (No Reserve), so bid often on this iconic enthusiast car to make it yours!
Perfect E46 M3 project. The car needs some cleanup but is ready to drive now. The AA supercharger (ASA iteration) is ultra rare (less than 12) and produces mid 400s whp. The clutch on the SC is a little noisy but a representative of AA and a local mechanic have said it sounds ok. Could use tie rod ends and control arm bushings but the car drives and shifts great. It needs paint on hood, fenders, roof rails, and trunk lid. I would do a CSL bumper and decklid before painting but now that is up to you! It is awesome!
